Childlike faith

On the way to school this morning Wes and I had the most interesting, tear jerking, humbling conversations.

It was all quiet and in the most sweet sincere voice...

Wes: Mom...did you know that God is a promise maker and a promise keeper. If he makes a promise he will keep His promise.
Me: yep bud, you are right.
Wes: so Mom. Have you ever had someone promise you something and then didn't do it?
I nodded yes.
Wes:   Tell me about it.

So we talked a little bit.

Then...silence...thinking...

Wes: the other day at school, I asked all of my friends if they believed in God. You know my friend Madison?  She said she doesn't believe in God.
Me:  well bud, you know what we can do for her?  We can pray for her.
Wes:  you know what else we can do?  Maybe one day, we can go to her house. We can take her a Bible. Maybe this weekend. Can we do that mom?

I love his heart for Jesus.  I pray that his love continues to group.  I pray that he never loses his child-like faith.  As Matthew 18: 4 says, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

2 Hands

Wesley LOVES Star Wars.  Pretty much all he talks about is Star Wars.  Last night, after he got out of the bathtub and I wrapped him up in his blanket, he started the countdown:

Wes:  Hurry mom, the bathroom is about to explode.  We have 5 seconds to get out of here.

So we take off running down the hall to his room.  Once we are in his room...
Wes:  Whew, we barely made it.  But oh no, Dad and Sisters got blown up. They didn't get out.
Me:  You mean you didn't use 'The Force' to let them know to get out.
Wes, matter of factly: I don't have 'The Force'.....But...I can do two things at the same time.
Me:  Really?  How is that?

He quickly pulls both arms out from the side of the towel and waves both of his hands and says,
'Because, I have 2 hands.'

How does he come up with this stuff? :)

Taste of Benadryl

According to Mary Catherine, Benadryl tastes like....

You know...when you put han-itizer [hand sanitizer] on and then you suck your thumb?

Generations: This is Love

The spring performance for the Taylors Children's Choir was called Generations:  This is Love.  The kids did a great job singing.

Ella, Sara and Joseph before the service.

Mary Catherine and Daniel all smiles before the performance :)

After the service, we went to Dairy Queen for a surprise ice cream trip.  The kids were really excited and it was yummy!

MC sweet thing

As I was putting Mary Catherine to bed tonight I was telling her how much I loved her.

Me: every day I can't imagine loving you more, but every day I do. And you know what is amazing?  As much as I love you, Jesus loves you more. It is hard for me to wrap my head around that because I just love you so much.

Mc:  Mom. Do you love Jesus more than me?  You know you are supposed to.

Me:  I do honey.

Mc:  I love you mom. You know....you are a good mom.

Warm heart. Beaming. Tears.

Love and kisses

As Mary Catherine and I were talking at bedtime, here is what she told me.

MC: you won't believe what Keaton told me today!! He told me he loves me.

Me: oh really?

MC: yeah and then you know what he did next?  He kissed me. Yep. He kissed me. Right here on the cheek.

Oh my. Kindergarten.

Jonah's Druthers

The Taylors Children Choir presented Jonah's Druthers for their spring play.  It was based on the book of Jonah.  Ella tried out for both drama and a solo.  She proudly was cast as Caroline.  She has 1 line in the play!

I am not very creative when it comes to costumes.  After much debating and looking around, I found a pilgrim costume on Amazon, so I just ordered it.  She helped me with my make-shift hem (double sided sticky tape that you iron on).  Never too early to teach my girl "how to sew." :)  It turned out fine.  I think she looked great!

Here she is with Sara, one of her best friends.

As Caroline, she was the "little girl".  In the Bible, Jonah was on a boat.  In this play, Jonah was on a stage coach.  So this picture are the people on the stagecoach, including Caroline and her mom.  Jonah is the guy in the black hat.

Actually caught a picture of her glancing our way.  Perhaps this is when she said her line.

"Momma, the wind is really scary."

The kids did a great job!

After the play, I asked her if she was nervous or not.  Here is our conversation, roughly :)
Me:  Where your nervous?  Or no?
Ella:  I wasn't at first. But then when I walked out there and I saw all of those people.  The church was full of all of the parents and grandparents.  That's when I got nervous.
Me:  Well, what did you do?
Ella:  I just thought, well, let's just pretend that no one is here.  It's just us kids, and our teachers, and about 10 other people.  That's it.  Once I thought about that, I wasn't nervous anymore.
Me:  Did you have butterflies in your tummy?
Ella:  Butterflies?
Me:  Ya know, when your tummy feels all fluttery?  People call that the butterflies.
Ella:  No, no butterflies.  It was just like little bubbles in my tummy, that's all.
